Miracle Hair Product

IMG_2B5F763BDF53-1.jpeg

I have tried SO MANY different hair products.  My hair is always my primary focus when I’m getting ready and because it’s thick and textured, most of the time I don’t wake up with it looking perfect.  When I need a quick fix, many times I use sea salt spray.  But the issue with salt spray is that your hair ends up crunchy or sticky and you aren’t capable of changing it up later in the day.  Thus, most of the time I resort to lots of heat.  I blow dry, straighten, or curl and basically ruin my hair.  Of course I use a heat protectant but that much heat every day takes a tole on the hair.  That’s why I was so so so happy to discover this product!!

Phytodefrisant Straightening Balm is by far the best product I have every used in my hair.  And I’m not exaggerating in the slightest!!  All you have to do is put it in wet hair and if you want, you can be done!  My hair dries so smooth and straight just letting it air dry!  The product is also super light and doesn’t make my hair feel heavy or weighed down whatsoever.

But that’s not all!!  If you don’t want to air dry, the product also works amazingly well when you blow dry!  The label says it’s heat activated and I believe it!  After using a blow dryer I barely have to go back through at all with a straightener!  There’s no frizz, no fuss, and it takes hardly any time at all to make my hair look great!

Yes, it is called a straightening balm however I’ve used it and then curled my hair and get super big and loose curls that hold.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking to get gorgeous hair with no fuss!  Waking up for early classes and not having to worry about how my hair is gonna look has been a blessing in college!

The Last 5 Books I’ve Read

Image-1-1.jpg

I love to read and it seems like this year I have started reading more than I used to read.  The last five books I’ve read are all books I would highly recommend!! You’ll see there’s a bit of a theme to the books I’ve been into recently…so here goes!

The Partner by John Grisham

Following typical Grisham style, this book centers on the partner of a law firm who finds himself in a bit of trouble when he is kidnapped and then convicted of numerous offenses.  I was engaged in the novel from start to finish but was very disappointed by the ending.  I won’t give anything away but let’s just say I was not expecting the end result.

The Testament by John Grisham

With a much better ending than The ParterThe Testament was an amazing book!  It starts with the surprise signing of a will and follows the execution of the will all the way to Brazil! I loved every character of the book and would definitely recommend everyone read it!

Camino Island by John Grisham

I have to say I was disappointed with this book because it was so different from everything else I have read by John Grisham.  It felt like more of a summer romance novel than a legal thriller and I was not expecting that.  If you are looking for more low-key mystery and adventure this is the book for you.  I would still recommend it but not to people who go in expecting a typical Grisham book.

The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva

My dad got my hooked on this series and so far I love it.  The narrative style is different yet still easy to follow and exciting from start to finish!  The central character is an Israeli operative who is called on to complete a mission.  The suspense and excitement throughout the book make it very hard to put down!

English Assassin by Daniel Silva

I have just started this book and so far I love it!! It’s the second in the Gabriel Allon series.  So far, so good!!

After taking an english class with a lot of assigned readings, it’s been fun to read when I’m interested in before going back to the many assigned readings for school!  I love to read so any recommendations you have, leave them in the comments section!

Top 8 Netflix Shows

Image-1-3.jpg

I love Netflix.  My family has been utilizing their services since before streaming was a thing.  I remember waiting for DVDs to be sent in the mail and then sending them back so we could rent a new movie.  But now everything is right at the tips of my fingers, which can sometimes be a bad thing…

Right now I’m between shows and would LOVE recommendations!  I’ve been rewatching my favorite episodes and now am ready to branch out into new binge-worthy shows!

But for now, here are my top 10 favorite shows, in no particular order…

1. Friends

Unknown.jpeg

I love this classic series.  I relate to every character in a different way and the humor is spot on!

2. Parks and Recreation

Unknown-2.jpeg

I think my goal in life is to have as much passion and drive as Leslie Knope.  She is such an amazing character.  The show itself is also hilarious!  And who doesn’t love Chris Pratt?!

3. The Office

Unknown-3.jpeg

When I started this show a while ago, it seemed pretty hard to get into.  But watching it in spurts it is amazing.  The comedy is classic and the characters are hilarious.

4. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Unknown-4.jpeg

Tina Fey hit a home run with this show!  Every character is laugh-out-loud funny and the premise is hilarious!!

5. 30 Rock

Unknown.jpeg

Again, Tina Fey is amazing.  The show is a must-watch.  I even got my grandma to watch it and I’m pretty sure she loved it!!

6. New Girl

Unknown-1.jpeg

I love Zooey Deschanel and she is perfect in this show!  Her bubbly personality and naivety make her character highly entertaining!

7. How I Met Your Mother

Unknown.jpeg

Similar to Friends, in a way, this show is very entertaining.  If you have seen the show, yes I am on the side that the final episode was very disappointing, but don’t let that stop you from watching!!  If anything, watch it for Neil Patrick Harris’s character!

8. Gilmore Girls

Moving from the comedies to a slightly different kind of show, Gilmore Girls is wonderful.  It takes some time to get into but once you start, you can’t stop.  And with the revival recently, there is no way I can have a list of wonderful Netflix shows without this mother-daughter classic.

Clearly I gravitate toward one type of show but I am very open to recommendations!  I’ve also been watching Riverdale and Jane the Virgin but have kept up with those on tv.  I highly recommend both!  Let me know what your favorites are on Netflix!

Movie Recommendations

Image-1.jpg.jpegI love movies!  In fact, at one point in my life I wanted to be a movie director!  Since then I have developed different goals, but my love for movies still remains!  I have rounded up a few of my movie recommendations in the hopes that you all can share in my love for them!

Children’s: Frozen

Frozen-blogDisney knocked it out of the park with this movie.  The songs are amazing and so are the characters!! I could watch this movie once a week!

Recent: Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast-Blog.jpgBelle has always been my favorite Disney princess and I absolutely love Emma Watson so you can imagine my excitement in finding out she would be playing my favorite princess!  Plus Josh Gad is in it, the actor who voices Olaf in Frozen, which ties back to my love of Frozen. This movie truly was a win-win!

Romantic Comedy: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

How to Lose a Guy-Blog.jpgI don’t watch Rom-Coms frequently, however this is one I love!  The movie is absolutely hilarious and no matter how many times I have seen it I still laugh out loud!

Comedy: Dumb and Dumber

Dumb and Dumber-Blog.jpgIf you know me, then you know my love for this movie.  It is probably the most quoted movie in my family and I am not ashamed of that.  In my opinion, this movie never gets old.

Action: Jason Bourne

Jason Bourne.jpgYes, all of these movies tend to follow the same general formula but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good!  All the action and excitement make these movies so fun to watch!!

Mystery: Rear Window

Rear Window-BlogThis classic mystery is a great movie for a rainy day.  The action comes at the end but the whole time you can’t help but get completely engrossed in the mystery of the situation.  I would definitely recommend it!

Most of the time I stick to watching movies I’ve already seen before but I love seeing new movies so please comment some of your favorites!!

Snow-Day Book Recommendations

It’s beginning to be the time of year where outdoor adventures are decreasing and indoor activities are increasing.  In the colder months, there is nothing better than curling up with a steamy drink and settling into a good book.  I know finding a book worth sitting down and reading for hours at a time can be hard, but I promise it is definitely worth the hunt!  I want to try to help out and share some of my current favorites that are good books to just dive right into.

A Time to Kill by John Grisham

32542.jpg

If you have never read any Grisham novels, you must start now!  A Time to Kill is the perfect book of his to start with.  Grisham focuses on a defense attorney in the south who defends the man who killed the two men who raped his daughter.  I know my description sounds a little heavy but I promise the amazing characters and exciting plot make the book one that will keep you turning pages before you realize you’ve been reading for hours!

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

Unknown.jpeg

Everyone has heard of Mr. Green’s famous novels Paper TownsThe Fault in Our Stars, and Looking for Alaska, and trust me all of those are good, but for a nice easy snow-day read, I would recommend this book.  The novel centers around a boy who has just been dumped by 19 girls named Katherine and goes on a road trip with his best friend to help get over the devastation.  John Green does not disappoint with his amazing characters and laugh-out-loud moments in the book.  An Abundance of Katherines is very light hearted and easy to read yet still intriguing and enjoyable.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Unknown-1.jpeg

My cousin recommended this book to me a few summers ago and it lived up to every praise she sang in its name.  I can’t give anything away, but I will say the ending is unexpected and brings a whole new level to the book.  We Were Liars is a true page-turner and a book you don’t want to miss out on.

The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien

Unknown.jpeg

A collection of short stories about the Vietnam War, The Things They Carried is quite the book.  I had to read this for an english class and I promise it is not your typical high school english class book.  Filled with truth about the war, Tim O’Brien writes with an honesty and skill to capture the effects of the war in a way you would never expect.  The book is not your typical war novel so even if you have an aversion to war, you can still appreciate the piece of literature.

I realize the majority of the books I have mentioned take place in the summer but I promise it doesn’t matter when you read them, they are still some great novels.  I’ve read most of these more than once and every single time I crack them open I get sucked in and can’t stop reading!  I hope you check out and enjoy some of these fantastic novels!

Commend below some of your favorite books!  I’m always looking for a new book to dive into!
