March Favorites

March Favorites Cover Picture.jpg

Winter is in full swing and I am not digging the cold weather.  However, I have found some great products to reduce the depressing aspects of winter and to keep me cozy and comfy while patiently waiting for spring to come.

1. A Robe

Never underestimate the power of a good robe!  I just received one as a birthday present and I am OBSESSED!  I love having something warm and cozy to put on in the morning.  Mine is by Ugg and although it may appear to be slightly more costly than your average bathrobe it is well worth the money!

2. Bean Boots

I’ve written about these before (you can find the post here) but their greatness is worth praising again!  These boots can withstand snow, rain, sleet, cold weather, you name it!  I know these shoes have been around forever but they are still very cute and in style and I’m absolutely in love!

3. Hempz lotion

I know I can’t be alone in the horrors of dry skin in the winter so lotion is always a must.  I love Hempz because it smells good but doesn’t leave your hands greasy right after you put the lotion on so you’re free use your hands without being hindered by the grease of regular lotion.

4. Blanket Scarf

I did not understand the full awesomeness of the blanket scarf until my brother got one for me for Christmas.  Ever since then, I have been obsessed!!  It goes with absolutely everything and is the warmest and most comfortable accessory you can pair with everything.  Plus mine is from Amazon so if you have Prime there is free shipping and it is not expensive at all! I honestly don’t know what I was thinking by not owning one sooner.

It’s only early March and I’m already for spring and then summer.  Luckily I have these amazing products to keep me comfortable and able to tolerate the early March atmosphere.

Snow-Day Book Recommendations

It’s beginning to be the time of year where outdoor adventures are decreasing and indoor activities are increasing.  In the colder months, there is nothing better than curling up with a steamy drink and settling into a good book.  I know finding a book worth sitting down and reading for hours at a time can be hard, but I promise it is definitely worth the hunt!  I want to try to help out and share some of my current favorites that are good books to just dive right into.

A Time to Kill by John Grisham

If you have never read any Grisham novels, you must start now!  A Time to Kill is the perfect book of his to start with.  Grisham focuses on a defense attorney in the south who defends the man who killed the two men who raped his daughter.  I know my description sounds a little heavy but I promise the amazing characters and exciting plot make the book one that will keep you turning pages before you realize you’ve been reading for hours!

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

Everyone has heard of Mr. Green’s famous novels Paper TownsThe Fault in Our Stars, and Looking for Alaska, and trust me all of those are good, but for a nice easy snow-day read, I would recommend this book.  The novel centers around a boy who has just been dumped by 19 girls named Katherine and goes on a road trip with his best friend to help get over the devastation.  John Green does not disappoint with his amazing characters and laugh-out-loud moments in the book.  An Abundance of Katherines is very light hearted and easy to read yet still intriguing and enjoyable.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

My cousin recommended this book to me a few summers ago and it lived up to every praise she sang in its name.  I can’t give anything away, but I will say the ending is unexpected and brings a whole new level to the book.  We Were Liars is a true page-turner and a book you don’t want to miss out on.

The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien

A collection of short stories about the Vietnam War, The Things They Carried is quite the book.  I had to read this for an english class and I promise it is not your typical high school english class book.  Filled with truth about the war, Tim O’Brien writes with an honesty and skill to capture the effects of the war in a way you would never expect.  The book is not your typical war novel so even if you have an aversion to war, you can still appreciate the piece of literature.

I realize the majority of the books I have mentioned take place in the summer but I promise it doesn’t matter when you read them, they are still some great novels.  I’ve read most of these more than once and every single time I crack them open I get sucked in and can’t stop reading!  I hope you check out and enjoy some of these fantastic novels!

Commend below some of your favorite books!  I’m always looking for a new book to dive into!

Fall Favorites

Image-1.jpgFall is almost over and I am just starting to get used to the cooler weather.  November is the best month because you have the stresses of midterms over and the hype of Thanksgiving and then Christmas to keep you going through the end of the year.  With the ending of November right around the corner, fall is going to be close to follow.  Luckily I was able to compile a list of a few new favorite makeup products, clothing items, and lifestyle finds for my favorite season that are worth passing on!

Number 1: Navy Puffer Vest

img_6602This vest is by far my favorite purchase of the season.  You can easily wear it up or down and it looks fabulous with a flannel or dress.  The style is also perfect because the vest isn’t heavy enough that you would have to take it off inside, yet still warm enough to wear outside in the brisk fall air.  I also love the navy because I find it goes with almost everything I already own!  I’m sure you’ll be seeing this vest in many posts to come!

Number 2: Laced Boots

I am in love with these boots.  Mine are getting worn out but I keep wearing them because they go with literally everything.  They are timeless and so easy to throw on with any outfit.  I’ve owned mine for three years and they are still holding up.  These boots are so comfortable and can easily be worn with jeans, leggings, skirts, or even dresses!  Once my current pair is ready to retire, I am definitely getting another!

Number 3: LOC Ultra-Gloss Lip Pencil

loc_ultra-gloss-lip-pencil_cupids-bow_p_p_1500x1500.jpgI love a good red lipstick for fall and the LOC Lip Pencil in Cherry Bomb is literally the bomb!  It goes on smooth and stays on all day.  I don’t have to reapply at all!  I’m generally not into bold lip colors but I can make an exception for fall and fall colors.  A nice red lipstick will add a pop to any outfit whether you are dressing in neutrals or fall reds, blues, and plaids.  The lip pencil also adds a touch of shine so you don’t have to worry about bogging your lips down with both a lipstick and a gloss.

Number 4: Pumpkin Spice Latte

img_4424Yes, I had to throw this classic fall beverage onto the list.  As “basic” as people say, it’s always a fall must for me.  I feel like a good Pumpkin Spice Latte is the season in a mug!  Starbucks has made the drink famous but even the hipster or independent coffee shops make good PSLs.  The reputation of the drink has become something of a joke but that does not make the drink any less amazing!

Number 5: Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup

It isn’t truly fall until my Mom makes this delicious soup.  I absolutely love a good hot soup during the colder months of the year and this one is phenomenal.  It is both easy to make and delicious both the day you make it and the next day (if you are lucky enough to have leftovers).

Those are just some of my all time favorites for the month of November!  In my opinion, fall is the greatest season!  I love all the amazing products, clothes, and food that come with the season but unfortunately, December is just a few days away.  I hope you take advantage of these fall favorites before winter takes over:)

Leave a comment with some of your favorites for the month of November and even December!  I love trying new things!
