My hair is naturally textured so curling my hair is generally a lot easier than straightening it or doing anything else! My hair also holds curl really well so how I curl my hair might not work as well for people with thinner or naturally straight hair.
What I Use:
Before curling, when my hair is still wet, I use this Aveda heat protectant.
I like to use a wand and have been using this one since Christmas.
I prefer this hairspray because it’s super light and keeps my hair from getting crunchy but if your hair doesn’t hold curl as well you might need to use a stronger product.
I recently tried a curling trick I had seen on the internet but didn’t believe actually worked. Come to find out…it does!! It probably works better for me now that my hair is longer and it has become my goto!
All you have to do is put your hair in a high ponytail and curl small sections. I then take my hair down and do touch-up curls where I need! But if you have shorter hair, or more layers this technique won’t work.
My other method is to curl the hair in layers. I section off the bottom layer and curl 1in sections away from my face on both sides. I repeat the process until the bottom layer is done and then move onto the next layer. If you want the curls to be more relaxed you can hairspray them right after curling and then brush through your hair at the end, creating bigger curls. For beach waves I recommend curling small sections and in different directions, not just all away from the face.
I love curling hair because curls can be dressed up or dressed down depending on how you style your hair! Let me know if there are any products you love for your hair or if you have any questions!
